Mac Dourado started playing guitar at the age of 12 influenced by his father who was a guitarist and violinist. One of Goa's best guitarist, Mac has toured with foreign and Indian bands and also as a solo performer at all major starred hotels in India. He got into jazz by listening to various styles in jazz from be-bop to bossanova, doing Carlos Jobin tunes and later got into odd rhythms and jazz-funk. "when I do a standard, I arrange and play it my own way.." he says.
Seen here with Jazz 3, the ensemble with which he has done many workshops, concerts and nightclubs. "It is fun teaming with Xavier (on Keyboards) and Glen (on Drums,) we enjoy playing together and we know that we combine well..." he says.
Mac plays the bass guitar and lead guitar at equal ease, he also sings jazz standards and is very good at scatting. On the bass he has been highly influenced by Jaco Pastorius and on the guitar by George Benson. Seen here with the Jazz Quartet, Benny Rosario (on keys) Crispino Celho (sax) Lester Rosario (on drums) in 1999. Mac can be contacted at macd16@rediff.com
