|  | Yograj is an accomplished Sitar player from the "Itawa Gharana," and is representative of the young breed of musicians in Goa today. Perhaps belonging to a family of traditional musicians, with his father Kishor a shining example may have set Yograj in the right diection from an early age. Yograj started pubic performances from the tender age of 15. He qualified for Sangeet Alanker from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and is also holding a Diploma from Sangeet Kusal, Kala Academy (Goa). To attain profieciency on Sitar, Yograj took preliminary lessons from A. K. Khan and is currently under the auspices of the illustrious Ustad Shahid Parviz. |
On this release, Yograj ascertains his adroitness with two "Ragas," "Nat Bgairav" the early morning melody, which lays emphasis on "Gandhar" and "Kamal Dhaivat" note, to unfold with "Aalap" and progress into "Swar" and "Meend," set to "Jhaptaal"; The other, "Jog" an improvisation of a late night melody starts with "Ektaal" and winds up with "Trital". The third "Dhun" is a melody from North India... |  |
